2023 It’s not just a portrait. It’s a self-portrait. DƯỚI LÀN DA ẤY, BẠN LÀ AI?

It’s not just a portrait. It’s a self-portrait.

Who are we underneath the skin? This question has long captivated me! It is a challenging question, but it is worth asking. I ask myself this daily, and it will only rest once I discover an explanation. The answer is not only my name and where I came from but a soul deep within. And our souls are always intricate and evolving. We often hear about drawing portraits. Most would never consider engaging an artist to portray"ourselves within."And who we are is shaped by our emotions, thoughts, fears, life experiences, and desires. For centuries, royals and wealthy families have commissioned self-portraits, displaying their status by donning exquisite silk, brocade, and precious jewels. Later, portraits primarily portray a character's face and emotion at a specific moment or time, or they are created from a photograph that reveals the contours of the face. But I'd want to try something new. I rarely paint realistic pictures of people's faces. I'm more interested in who you are on the inside than who you are on the outside. Because you are one-of-a-kind and cannot be labeled. If you can't connect with who you truly are, and if you have to live your life for others and, if the drawings only outline your external appearance, which may be identical to that of many other individuals, then who are you underneath the skin? I once read an insightful quote: "People were not born to vanish anonymously like grains of sand. They were born to leave marks on the ground and to imprint in the hearts of others."Thus, I believe that what is not visible on the exterior reflects each individual, assisting them in"making a mark"in this life. I enjoy drawing your soul, personality, hobbies, interests, or expressions on your face, the emotions related to the events in your life. My compositions are represented by colors that contrast with your individuality. And I've discretely drawn several works of recognizable individuals, motivated by their admiration for their characters and my observations at various times. I seek contrasting colors with each person's features to begin creating since the color is the most comfortable dialect for me. I connect what you see on the outside with what you feel deep inside: your emotions, behaviors, sensations, and memories. Each visual and color will represent a stage in finding who you are. The mystical language of colors will be used to explain the hidden corners. Everyone has a unique tale, personality, life, place of birth, and growth; I am only drawn to you on the inside and want to know who you are underneath that skin. You will no longer have lifeless features or dry expressions; instead, you will be a vibrant and distinctive companion. We are all the same in many respects, yet in many others, we are not. We each have our own set of thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. So what makes us unique? What is it that genuinely characterizes us? Is it our appearance or our personality? This is what I'm striving to express in this collection.
